Why We Were Wrong For Thinking What We Thought

We were all wrong when we thought today we would be able to go outside.

We were all wrong when we thought that we were going away for the long Easter weekend.

We were all wrong when we thought that our job was going to continue as usual.

Some people had to fight tigers to survive. Others are dying of hunger. Other people have been inside their houses scared of atomic bombs. People died because of a massive wave named tsunami killed them. And others had been killed because of their religious beliefs.

WELCOME TO YOUR HUMAN EXPERIENCE

Life is not a holiday. Life is not all rainbows and unicorns. Life is a package that comes with uncomfortable moments. Welcome to the world, my friends. In case you haven’t yet noticed, we didn’t come here just for the good stuff.

Things could always happen. You could get sick, a family member could get sick, you could be made redundant, or you could find a new passion and decide to change your life. You could get beaten by 100 bees or also by a shark.

THE WOLRD INSN’T WRONG FOR WHAT IT IS DOING. WE WERE WRONG FOR THINKING WHAT WE THOUGHT.

We thought we knew what was going to happen. But that is an illusion. We didn’t know and we will never know.

As Eckhart Tolle says “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.”

OK I GET IT. IT IS WHAT IT IS, SO? WHAT SHALL WE DO?

As always, there are two options:

1) Using escape buttons and not taking the invitation to grow: food, alcohol, Netflix, sadness, sleeping.

2) Leading change and feeling the uncomfortable part that growth brings.

It is totally fine if you take number 1). You don’t have to use this opportunity to grow. But you need to talk to your future self if you are choosing that. Because when you miss the chance to grow, you don’t only avoid the hard part of reality. You also avoid the fantastic, magical and hilarious part of life. If you use all the escape buttons, you won’t be wiser, stronger and more evolved at the other side of this.

Now, you can also choose to accept this was always supposed to happen and ask yourself: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THIS SPECTACULAR OPPORTUNITY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HAPPENING?

WE DIDN’T THINK WE WERE GOING TO BE DEALING WITH A PANDEMIC BUT WE WERE WRONG.

THE WOLRD INSN’T WRONG FOR WHAT IT IS DOING. WE WERE WRONG FOR THINKING WHAT WE THOUGHT.

SO NOW WHAT?

Ohhhhh. This is the life we were supposed to be living.

This is the experience we are meant to be having.

Your life will be a series of changes. And they will be unexpected. What is happening right now is not different from anything else that happened. A little more than one year ago, I was supposed to be going to the beach with friends, and I had a car accident. I was wrong when I thought I was going to see the sunset with my friends in Australia. And I was also wrong when I thought I would be teaching at a yoga studio this morning.

Ohhhh. This is what was always supposed to happen.

Things are changing.

YOU CAN LEAD THE CHANGE, OR YOU CAN LET THE CHANGE HAPPEN TO YOU.

From my perspective, you don’t wait for change to happen. Reading the news or watching social media.

You lead the change.

If you lead the change, you get to choose what you want to create with your life, and you go and create it.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE THREE MONTHS FROM NOW?

Make that decision and go out there, create it. Lead the change.

You have to be proactive and go after it. Go and get it.

Now you might not get it. But that doesn’t matter because if you give your 100% to get it, you will be stronger on the other side.

DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND DO IT.

This is the circumstance. COVID - 19. What do you want to do with your life right now? Go and do it.

The world hasn’t stopped.

What I learnt from my car accident (which I am so thankful for) is that I won’t change my circumstances by my thoughts. But I can always choose what to think. My life matters. This moment matters. And if there is an external circumstance in the world that happens, you can be sure I am going to have the best possible thought about it.

Bring me what you have life. Bring me my life world. Give it to me. It might not be what I want. It might not be what I expected. But I am going to rise to it. And you will find me living it. Not complaining about it, or sitting around being mad about it. Or judging it because is not supposed to be like this. Bring me everything.

I know I don’t have the right to anything else than what is.

THE WOLRD INSN’T WRONG FOR WHAT IT IS DOING. WE WERE WRONG FOR THINKING WHAT WE THOUGHT.

My invitation is for you to embrace this present moment with awareness. Stop trying it to end and open yourself to the opportunities that this present moment has for you. Choose. Make a conscious decision of what you want to create and who you want to be when all this finishes. And go for it. This is no different from any other moment in time. We thought we could control what was going to happen but that is never true. Everything is changing all of the time ,even though we didn’t use to acknowledge it. Welcome to this human experience that today includes a pandemic.

What are you going to create?

Fly high, my friends. Life is now.

And I will finish quoting one of my most influential teachers again. Eckhart Tolle:

“Whenever tragic loss occurs, you either resist or you yield.

Yielding menas inner acceptance of what is. You are open to life. Resistance is an inner contraction, a hardening of the shell of the ego. You are closed. Whatever action you take in a state of inner resistance (which we could also call negativity) will create more outer resistance, and the universe will not be on your side; life will not be helpful. If the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in.

When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up. If action is possible or necessary, your action will be in alignment with the whole and supported by creative intelligence, the unconditioned consciousness which in a state of inner openness you become one with. Circumstances and people then become helpful, cooperative. Coincidences happen.

If no action is possible, you rest in the peace and inner stillness that comes with surrender.”
